Forge collects the following categories of information:
- Account Information: Name, email address, phone number, and shipping address when you create an account.
- Order Information: Details of your orders, including design files, prompts, specifications, delivery addresses, and order history.
- Usage Data: How you interact with the Platform, including pages visited, features used, search queries, and time spent on the Platform.
- Device Information: Browser type, operating system, IP address, device identifiers, and general location data derived from your IP address.
- Communications: Messages you send through the Platform, support conversations, and Forgebot chat transcripts.
- Maker Data: For Makers, we additionally collect equipment information, print quality metrics, camera footage, fulfillment history, and payout information.
- Designer Data: For Designers, we collect uploaded design files, portfolio information, and royalty payment details.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect for the following purposes:
- To provide, maintain, and improve the Services.
- To process orders, payments, and payouts.
- To route orders to appropriate Makers based on capability, location, and quality ratings.
- To communicate with you about orders, support requests, and Platform updates.
- To personalize your experience and provide recommendations.
- To enforce our Terms of Service and policies.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, and policy violations.
- To comply with legal obligations and respond to lawful requests.
- To train and improve our AI systems (see Section 3 for details).
3. How We Use Your Data for AI Training
This section is a prominent disclosure about how Forge uses your data for AI training and commercial purposes. Please read it carefully.
Forge uses data collected through the Platform to train, improve, and develop our AI systems, including but not limited to:
- Design generation models.
- Quality prediction and defect detection systems.
- Order routing and pricing algorithms.
- Content moderation and safety filters.
- Natural language processing and conversational AI.
Data Sales: Forge may sell or license aggregated, de-identified data and AI models trained on Platform data to third parties. This may include patterns, trends, and insights derived from order data, design data, manufacturing data, and user interactions. We do not sell individually identifiable personal information.
Maker Camera Footage: Camera footage from Maker print farms may be used to train computer vision models for quality assurance, defect detection, and process optimization. These models or the insights derived from them may be sold or licensed to third parties.
Opt-Out: You may opt out of having your data used for AI training purposes by contacting us at privacy@forge3d.com. Note that opting out may limit certain Platform features that rely on personalized AI models.
4. Payment Data
Forge stores zero payment card data.All payment processing is handled by Stripe, Inc. Payment card numbers, CVVs, and other sensitive payment information are transmitted directly to Stripe and are never stored on Forge's servers. We retain only transaction IDs, amounts, and payment confirmation status for order tracking and accounting purposes.
5. Third-Party Services
Forge uses the following categories of third-party services:
- Payment Processing: Stripe, Inc. for payments and Maker payouts.
- Cloud Infrastructure: For hosting, storage, and computing services.
- AI and Machine Learning: Third-party AI providers for design generation and content analysis.
- Analytics: Services that help us understand Platform usage and performance.
- Communications: Email, SMS, and notification delivery services.
- Shipping: Carrier APIs for shipping label generation and tracking.
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing the use of your information. We encourage you to review their policies.
6. Camera Footage
Forge's Maker Agent software may access cameras connected to Maker print setups for the following purposes:
- Real-time print monitoring and failure detection.
- Quality assurance and defect identification.
- Order verification and documentation.
- Training data for AI quality control systems.
Camera footage is retained for 90 days after order completion, after which it is automatically deleted unless it is subject to a dispute, legal hold, or has been incorporated into anonymized training datasets. Makers are responsible for informing any individuals who may appear in camera footage.
7. Data Sharing
Forge shares your information in the following circumstances:
- With Makers: We share order details and shipping addresses with Makers assigned to fulfill your orders.
- With Designers: We share aggregated sales data with Designers whose designs are sold.
- With Service Providers: We share information with third-party service providers who assist us in operating the Platform.
- For Legal Compliance: We may disclose information in response to legal process, government requests, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- Business Transfers: In connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, your information may be transferred to the acquiring entity.
- With Your Consent: We may share information with third parties when you give us explicit consent to do so.
- AI Training Data: As described in Section 3, aggregated and de-identified data may be sold or licensed to third parties for AI training and research purposes.
8. Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the Services. Specific retention periods include:
- Account data: Retained until you delete your account, plus 30 days for processing.
- Order data: Retained for 7 years for tax and legal compliance.
- Camera footage: Retained for 90 days after order completion.
- Chat and support transcripts: Retained for 3 years.
- AI training data: Once incorporated into anonymized training datasets, this data is retained indefinitely.
9. Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal information:
- Access: Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Correction: Request correction of inaccurate personal information.
- Deletion: Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal retention requirements.
- Portability: Request a portable copy of your data in a machine-readable format.
- Opt-Out of Sales: Opt out of the sale of your personal information for AI training purposes.
- Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

10. Children
The Services are not directed to children under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 18, we will promptly delete that information. If you believe a child under 18 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@forge3d.com.
11. Security
Forge implements commercially reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:
- Encryption of data in transit and at rest.
- Regular security assessments and penetration testing.
- Access controls and authentication requirements.
- Employee security training and background checks.
However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security of your information.
